Marketers believe that a simple launch of a mobile app will attract consumers to their embedded brand messages and also the mobile usage will increase. But that’s not true. Only a few such apps draw the consumers’ gaze.

Ad Age App
Ad Age App for the iPad is the second mobile app from the leading global source of news, intelligence and conversation for the marketing and media communities.
The “Ad Age News” app, focused on breaking news and opinion, was earlier launched for the iPhone.
The iPad app contains full Ad Age issue content, real-time news, and the best advertising creative. Available first on the Apple iPad with iOS 6, the joint app is free to download and is free to subscribers. It also showcased the best creative as selected by the editors of Creativity magazine.
Pregnancy App from WebMD
WebMD Health Corp., a leading source of health information, launched the WebMD Pregnancy app.
It is a free iPhone app offering expectant moms WebMD’s physician-reviewed pregnancy information that is customizable to fit a woman’s unique pregnancy.
The WebMD Pregnancy App is WebMD’s latest addition to its multi-screen platform approach which provides health information to consumers.
Brick manufacturer General Shale launched a tech tool to assist construction professionals and homeowners with designing buildings, selecting products, calculating costs and purchasing materials for their projects.
The mobile app, which can be downloaded free via the iPhone App Store, allowed users to browse product colors and sizes in brick, thin brick, pavers and do-it-yourself outdoor living kits and then email favorite selections or final cost calculations without leaving the app.
Men’s Wearhouse launched its Wedding Tuxedo Group Manager mobile application. The free tool provides couples information about the rental of their wedding party’s tuxedos while simplifying the wedding planning process.
The app is equipped with a variety of wedding party management features allowing couples to manage the tuxedo rental process from start to finish, right from their iPhone.
Taylor Swift Greeting Card
A new Taylor Swift Greeting Card Mobile App by American Greetings Corporation was launched for the Valentine’s Day on the iTunes store and on Google Play.
The free mobile app allowed the user to select, customize and send digital versions of popular Taylor Swift paper greeting cards from their mobile phone or tablet to a recipient via text message, email, Facebook and Twitter.
Galaxy S 4 Smartphone
Leading travel site TripAdvisor launched its mobile app pre-installed onto the Samsung Galaxy S 4. It enabled consumers worldwide to have easy access to TripAdvisor travel content.
TripAdvisor claimed to be the only travel app that was pre-installed on the new Samsung Galaxy S 4.
The Center for Restorative Breast Surgery founded by Dr. Frank DellaCroce and Dr. Scott Sullivan in New Orleans launched a new smartphone app.
It is designed for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer and those looking for more information on the newest and most sophisticated breast reconstruction techniques available. It was made available for both iPhone and Android devices and could be downloaded for free.

Expedia mobile app
Leading online travel company Expedia.com announced the addition of a set of visual mobile itineraries capabilities to its Expedia mobile app.
Using location awareness and time zone updates, the app surfaces the most relevant part of the itinerary and related information like airport maps, flight status, confirmation codes and addresses at the moment the traveler is most likely to need that piece of information.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Nickelodeon launched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rooftop Run, the network’s first worldwide mobile app, available in more than 150 countries and eight languages.
Available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rooftop Run features full 3D characters and environments based on the CG-animated series.
USA TODAY Mobile App for Tony Awards
USA TODAY, a multi-platform news and information company, launched the USA TODAY Broadway’s Best app, its first mobile app dedicated to the Tony Awards.
The app, presented by American Airlines, provided an opportunity for fans to connect instantly to the latest news and information about Broadway’s biggest night no matter where they are.
Seven times French Open winner Rafa Nadal challenged 100 of his fans to play against him at a Paris tennis club five minutes away from the famous clay courts of the Roland Garros tournament.
However the challenge was not at tennis, but rather an online poker tournament which was free to enter and played using mobile phones and tablets on the PokerStars mobile app.
Mobile App for Bangalore Heritage Sites
An Indian software services company Sonata Software and the Bangalore Chapter of The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) launched a walking-tour app of the city’s heritage sites.
The mobile application was made available on the mobile app store of Apple and also on Google Play for Android mobile device users.
Marriott Mobile App
Marriott Hotels, the signature brand of Marriott International, announced its plans to roll out mobile check-in at 325 hotels in the U.S. and Canada.
With the Marriott Mobile App, all Marriott Rewards members can check-in after 4 pm the day before their arrival and will receive an automatic notification when their room is ready.
DGF Cargo Mobile Tracking
DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight entity within Deutsche Post DHL, offered customers a mobile app to track their ocean and air freight shipments.
Among other features, “DGF Cargo Mobile Tracking” shows users their shipping history and the status of their current shipments.
The app provides global access and is available free of charge in the respective app stores for iPhone and iPad, Android, and Blackberry smartphones.
Every Day Is a Food Holiday
Leading online destination Food.com launched its first-ever mobile app, Every Day Is a Food Holiday for iPhone and iPad.
The new app was free for download in the iTunes store and celebrated a different food holiday every day of the year.
For each food holiday the app offered a variety of fun, festive recipes to celebrate the day all pulled from Food.com’s more than 475,000 user-generated recipes.
Fandango Movie Ticketing App
Fandango, a leading moviegoer destination and an NBCUniversal company, announced that its customers using iPhone, iPad or iPod touch can now use the new Fandango app on iOS 7.
The new Fandango app for iOS 7 is available for free on the App Store.
Leading drugstore chain Walgreens announced the latest updates to its iPhone mobile app that allows users to create photo cards with special themes such as thank you, holidays, announcements and invitations.
Unique collages also can be created directly from an iPhone. Walgreens says it is the first retailer to provide the ability to create collage prints using a mobile device and pick them up in about an hour.
Photos for these creations can be uploaded from the user’s phone, Facebook or Instagram albums.
The Cali CowChat app gives consumers the ability to create a customized California cow and connect with friends in an entertaining and original way including sending personalized voice messages in a California cow voice to Facebook friends through Facebook Connect.

Kellogg’s and Keebler brand products decided to bring the thrill of the live concert experience to kitchen tables, when fans download the Kellogg’s “Gift Of Music” mobile app to their iPhone or Android phone.
Using the “Gift Of Music” app along with specially marked boxes, fans were able to access virtual performances and other exclusive content from music superstars including Kellie Pickler, Chris Daughtry, Conor Maynard and Jesse & Joy.
Sabre Red Mobile Workspace
Technology company Sabre launched a mobile app for travel agents on the go who need to book travel and serve customers.
The Sabre Red Mobile Workspace provides access to the most commonly used agent functions including air, car, and hotel shopping and booking, customer profiles, PNR servicing, seat maps, ticketing capabilities and more.
WordGirl Superhero Training App
PBS KIDS launched the WordGirl Superhero Training App for iPad and Android tablets, a new mobile app based on the series WordGirl.
In the app, kids train to be a superhero alongside WordGirl and Captain Huggy Face.

Disney Consumer Products (DCP) and Marvel Entertainment launched the Marvel Creativity Studio Stylus and App, created by eKids, exclusively for iPad.
The app delivers a creative space for kids to learn to draw, color and animate their favorite Marvel Super Heroes and villains from Avengers Assemble, The Ultimate Spider-Man and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., while the stylus adds special and enhanced play value.

Shutterstock, Inc., a leading global provider of commercial digital imagery, launched an Android mobile app.

Legends of Oz

Sky Italia, Nokia and Microsoft announced the global debut on Windows Phone of Sky Go, the service that allows users to view 30 pay-TV channels on the go.
The agreement allows Sky to enhance its mobile service by offering content to owners of Windows Phone 8 Lumia smartphones in Italy, in addition to allowing Nokia to enrich its models with the application that allows TV to be taken outside the home.

Video games company PopCap Games, a division of Electronic Arts Inc., announced the worldwide availability of Plants vs. Zombies 2.
