World’s Shortest Grant Application in 140 Characters! #140Difference

To celebrate Earth Day, a company is awarding $15,000 in various grant amounts to clever social media users who pitch their idea in 140 characters or less.

Fans can submit ideas for making the world a better place via Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. To be eligible, submissions must include #140Difference.

Each week, a committee at So Delicious Dairy Free will select at least two winners to receive micro-grants to cover the cost of their project.

Meanwhile, NASA is inviting people all around the world to step outside on Earth Day, April 22, take a “selfie,” and share it with the world on social media. [Read: Celebrating Earth Day with #GlobalSelfie Event]

And condoms brand Durex will be celebrating Earth Hour by encouraging people to take the opportunity to “reconnect with each other” whilst the lights are out. [Read: Sex Life Survey: People Use Phone and Facebook During Sex]

“We want to support our fans’ ideas for making a difference in the world,” said Brittany Horn, advocacy marketing manager for So Delicious Dairy Free. “Ideas can include anything from school garden projects to entrepreneurial water conservation plans on crowdfunding platforms.”

So Delicious Dairy Free will reward inspiring ideas, both large and small, from individuals or organizations.

The #140Difference campaign kicks off Tuesday, April 22, 2014 for Earth Day and will run through Friday, May 9th.

Based in Eugene, Oregon, privately held So Delicious Dairy Free has been providing consumers with a range of alternatives to dairy-based foods and beverages since 1988.
