New Watermark Technology for Print-Digital Cookbook

MyRecipes.com – Time Inc.’s food and recipe Web site – announced Thursday the release of its next-generation print/digital cookbook, “America’s Favorite Food” ($24.95, 288 pages, Oxmoor House).

Designed to make at-home cooking more easy and enjoyable, the book offers Scan-It/Cook-It features that let readers instantly access recipe-specific videos, professional tips and cooking guides via mobile or tablet device without leaving the kitchen.

Thanks to all-new invisible watermark technology, readers can get on-demand help by scanning one of the book’s more than 130 color recipe photographs using the Digimarc Discover app (free to download; available on iTunes and Google Play).

Digimarc Discover platform enables smartphones and other sensor-equipped devices to “see and hear” media content using built-in cameras and microphones.
Consumers simply direct their phone at content they are interested in and are presented with a range of associated network services such as purchase a product, view a video, save for later, download a coupon, or share with a friend, for example.
The Digimarc Discover mobile applications are available for licensing and can be integrated into existing applications.
Publishers and others can embed digital watermarks into content using the Digimarc Discover Online Services Portal (OSP). The OSP is being used by magazines, newspapers, packaging companies, advertising agencies, and others to enable a variety of new experiences and capabilities from print.
Companies interested in learning more about digital watermarking technology and licensing opportunities for the Digimarc Discover platform can visit: www.digimarc.com/discover.

Scan-It/Cook-It features include ‘How-To Videos,’ which walk users through an entire recipe step-by-step, such as how to poach eggs or cut up a chicken; and ‘Expert Answers,’ which provide feedback to common cooking questions and allow users to submit their own questions.

Other features include ‘Weeknight Meal Planners,’ ‘Collections of Similar Recipes,’ ‘Shopping Lists,’ and more.

“America’s Favorite Food” is claimed to be the first cookbook from the MyRecipes brand. The book presents the top 200 most-reviewed, most-searched and highest-ranked recipes from the website’s extensive collection – which features more than 65,000 recipes developed by lifestyle magazines such as Cooking Light, Southern Living, Real Simple and Health, among others.

Organized in 10 easy-to-navigate categories such as ‘Starters,’ ‘Seafood,’ ‘Meatless Mains’ and ‘Desserts,’ the recipes were selected based on actual reviews and rankings by more than 6 million home cooks who use MyRecipes.com each month, according to MyRecipes.

“America’s Favorite Food” is now available at booksellers, including Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Target and Sam’s Club for $24.95.

The cookbook is also available for tablets in eBook format, which includes exclusive digital features. To view complete “America’s Favorite Food” cookbook details, sample recipes and exclusive videos, visit www.MyRecipes.com/AmericasFavoriteFood.
