Is it the World’s Smallest Laptop Charger?
|A company with the name of FINsix has launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring what it says is the world’s smallest laptop charger, the Dart, to market.
Four times smaller and six times lighter than today’s laptop adapters, the Dart is a full-powered 65W AC adapter that also features a built-in 2.1 amp USB port for simultaneously charging phones and tablets.
The Dart is now available for pre-order on Kickstarter.com starting at $79 – a $40 discount off the expected retail price. The miniature universal adapter, which only consumes the space of one wall socket and comes in a variety of bright colors, is expected to begin shipping in November 2014.
“With the Dart, we look forward to lightening the load of everyone on the go,” says Vanessa Green, CEO of FINsix.
Specifications for the FINsix Dart:
- Power: 65 watt
- Size: 2.5 cubic inches
- Weight: 60 grams (0.13 lbs.)
- Output: 18V – 21V
- Compatibility: All major PC laptop manufacturers
- Warranty: 1 year
- Price: Starts at $79 on Kickstarter
Developed by FINsix, which offers VHF (Very High Frequency) power conversion technology, the Dart combines fundamental circuit concepts such as resonance and wave shaping with new power conversion architectures to cycle power up to 1,000 times faster than today’s systems, says the company.
