Dickey’s Smokin’ Pin Wins Contest on Pinterest

Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants announced it’s bringing its unique brand of heat to the social sharing site, Pinterest. The world’s leading barbecue franchise launched its brand page earlier this year and is now firing up a contest that asks Dickey’s fans to post photos and recipes using any of Dickey’s meat or sides.

“We feel like this is a great opportunity to get to know our customers even better,” said Roland Dickey, Jr. president of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. “I’m excited to see how creative our customers can be using our ingredients – we’re fired up for the competition.”

To attract consumers’ eyeballs toward their brands, companies these days are running after social media crowds. McDonald’s Germany says it has achieved a social media breakthrough with its “My Burger” crowdsourcing campaign.

An online burger configurator gives fans the opportunity to create their own burgers and give them individual names. The burger creations are then voted on and the winners are marketed and sold at all of McDonald’s 1,415 restaurants in Germany. (Read: How McDonald’s Did a Burger-Crowdsourcing Campaign)

To enter Dickey’s contest, users go to www.dickeys.com and enter their smokin’ recipe that uses one or more of Dickey’s signature meats or sides. Recipes can be imaginative from casseroles or burritos to meatloaves or side dishes.

Contestants will also upload a photo of their creations. The company will pin photos to the “Smokin’ Pin Wins” board on Dickey’s Barbecue Pinterest site, http://pinterest.com/dickeysbarbecue/ that will showcase all entries.

The top five will be chosen for a recipe smokin’ showdown. They will be taste tested by Roland Dickey, Jr., president of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc., and a winner will be chosen.

The first place winner will receive free barbecue for a year which is valid at any Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurant in the United States. The first place dish will also be featured online and bragging rights for having the “Smokin’ Pin.”

Second and third place winners will receive Dickey’s Barbecue T-shirts.

The contest begins April 30 and runs until May 13. The top five entries will be announced May 15 via Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook and on www.Dickeys.com.

Founded in 1941, Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants began in Dallas, Texas.

I’ve used pinterest to optimize my site and the result was amazing my site was jumped from #234 to #9 in few weeks time.

The trick is we must got our website pinned and repinned by many people this is the hardest part. Most of pinterest users won’t doing repin when they aren’t like what we pinned.

I do simple thing to outsource it on fiverr and got my site pinned by more than 70 people, I don’t know how can he did it just search by typing pinterest on fiverr and you will find it.

As I know currently pinterest is best for SEO for these reason:
    1. Once our website pinned it has 3 backlinks counts
    2. Google interest in social media signal so it will not tagged as links farm
    3. Currently pinterest links are dofollow even the image
    4. Even not support anchor text (except the url link), it’s still perfect for placing our keywords in description. Google will READ it!!
    5. Obama The President and Mark Zuckerberg now pinning on Pinterest lol.
