Online video is coming of age as a way to disseminate information rapidly and directly to large audiences, and some of its biggest fans are C-level executives, who are using live online video at more than triple the adoption rate of associate-level employees.
These are among the findings of “Executive Visions on Video in the Workplace,” a new report by Wainhouse Research on the fast-growing use of online video in the corporate sector.
Sponsored by Ustream, Inc., creator of a social platform for live video webcasting, the report is based on a survey of 1,007 U.S. executives during the fourth quarter of 2013. The findings were revealed today, Dec. 17.
The report is said to be the first in a series of white papers and webinars tracking the corporate use, deployment and executive perceptions of online video.
Takeaways from the report include:
● Online video is effective: 78 percent of survey respondents describe online video as an effective business communications tool, with the most favorable perceptions reported by those who actively use the technology.
● Businesses prefer live video: 72 percent of respondents prefer live online video to on-demand pre-recorded content. This preference may be because live video can enhance communications already taking place in the enterprise.
● Cash isn’t always king: While those who haven’t used live online video technology say they would base streaming video purchase decisions largely on price and return on investment, experienced users are more likely to look beyond financial considerations and also consider factors such as video quality and network capacity.
Report author Steve Vonder Haar, a senior analyst at Wainhouse Research, and Ustream’s CEO and founder Brad Hunstable will be hosting a live video webinar – Learn How Live Video Can Help You Climb the Corporate Ladder – to discuss the report’s findings today, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. PST/1 p.ms. EST.
The free, interactive webinar is open to the public and press, and participants will receive complimentary copies of the report.
