Hot Dog Company Sets World Record for Most Selfies

Nathan’s Famous, a hot dog company based in Coney Island, N.Y., set a Guinness World Records title Saturday for Most selfies (self-portraits) taken simultaneously with 4,296 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. The previous record of 2,997 was beaten by the crowd taking in the St. Louis Cardinals game against the visiting Detroit Tigers.

A Guinness World Records adjudicator was on-site to immediately verify and confirm the record.

“Everyone knows that Nathan’s Famous is the originator of fun and today we proved it with 4,296 Cardinals fans by setting the Guinness World Records title for Most selfies taken simultaneously,” said Mike Paribello, sr.. director of Marketing, Nathan’s Famous.

Joey Chestnut, the eight-time defending Nathan’s Famous National Hot Dog Eating Contest Champion, was on-hand and participated by taking a selfie at the stadium with the famous Gateway Arch in the background.

Nathan’s Famous was founded almost 100 years ago in Coney Island, a popular New York City amusement and leisure destination. It is a licensed brand of Smithfield Foods.
