The former U.S. President Donald Trump is reluctant to come back to the microblogging network Twitter, although the majority of the people in a poll preferred his account to be restored.

New Twitter owner Elon Musk had launched a poll on November 19 on his Twitter account to know if Trump should be reinstated to the platform.

More than 15 million people participated in the poll out of them 51.8% said Trump should be taken back while his Twitter account was terminated in 2021 for his hostile activities to spread hate and violence through his tweets.

“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” Twitter said in its statement.

Twitter took this action after the January 6 incident when a violent mob of Trump supporters entered the Capitol building to challenge the victory of Joe Biden in the presidential election.

Although Trump ostensibly asked his supporters to remain peaceful while protesting, he kept provoking them through his obnoxious tweets.

After winning the Twitter poll, Trump praised Musk and said that he is not willing to rejoin Twitter as he is using his own network, Truth Social, launched after he was expelled from Twitter.

Now Trump’s Twitter account @realDonaldTrump is working, but it shows an old tweet of January 8, 2021 at the top when his account was suspended.

Meanwhile, President Biden has deplored Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, Inc., saying that the microblogging platform was responsible for spewing lies all across the world.
