Local commerce company Groupon (NASDAQ:GRPN) has announced the appointment of two new executives: Tamer Tamar to SVP of International Operations and Sri Subramaniam to VP of Engineering for Smart Deals.
“We’re thrilled to have Tamer and Sri join Groupon and bring their incredible talent to our expanding bench of senior executives,” said Eric Lefkofsky, CEO Groupon.
“Tamer and Sri will accelerate Groupon’s plans to grow our international operations and deliver more and more relevant deals to our customers throughout the world.”
Tamar joins Groupon from Orbitz where he was SVP International responsible for EMEA and APAC Regions for ebookers and HotelClub.

Prior to that, Tamar held senior positions at Expedia in Europe. Tamar joins in April, will be based in London, and will report to COO, Kal Raman. Tamar (pictured above) will join Groupon’s senior leadership team.
Subramaniam joins from WalmartLabs where he was responsible for search, marketplace and item infrastructure.
Prior to that Subramaniam was VP of Engineering at Kosmix, a semantic tech startup acquired by Walmart. He also previously led search at eBay. Subramaniam will be based in Palo Alto and report to Sri Viswanath, SVP of Engineering and Operations.
