Uber Accelerates Enterprise Automation with Company-Wide ChatGPT Work Rollout

Enterprise Agentic AI at Scale

Uber has officially announced the global expansion of ChatGPT Work to its entire workforce of over 30,000 employees. Transitioning from an initial pilot program involving 1,000 staff members, the deployment represents Uber’s first enterprise-wide implementation of an agentic AI platform customized for knowledge work. The rollout equips operational, financial, marketing, and product teams with automated capabilities designed to handle multi-step business objectives and produce complete deliverables.

Deep Integration Across Corporate Workflows

Engineered to operate seamlessly within existing business ecosystems, ChatGPT Work integrates directly with standard productivity and collaboration platforms used daily at Uber, including Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, and Slack. Through these connections, employees can execute comprehensive research, compile meeting briefs, construct slide presentations, synthesize complex datasets, and manage cross-application workflows within a single interface.

Advanced Model Architecture and Technical Ecosystem

Underneath the interface, Uber employees gain access to OpenAI’s full suite of frontier models. OpenAI’s GPT-6.1 Sol model serves as the default capability within the system, striking a balance between frontier reasoning performance and enterprise cost efficiency. The environment also incorporates multimodal AI capabilities, including voice processing and image generation, providing teams with adaptable tools tailored to distinct operational requirements.

To ensure safe and effective adoption across all functional areas, Uber is supporting the rollout with its internal AI skills library, vetted platform integrations, and structured employee training modules. Concurrently, Uber’s software engineering and developer organizations continue to leverage OpenAI Codex to accelerate codebase development and optimize programming operations.

Executive Perspectives on AI Integration

Praveen Neppalli Naga, Chief Technology Officer at Uber, emphasized the strategic importance of providing internal teams with advanced technology tools:

“Uber has always been a company of builders, and every day, millions of people around the world rely on what we create. As AI transforms how we work, we want to give everyone the tools to innovate, solve problems and help shape Uber’s future. Rolling out ChatGPT Work across the company is an exciting step toward that ambition, and I can’t wait to see what our teams build with it.”

Greg Brockman, President and Co-founder of OpenAI, highlighted the significance of deploying agentic systems across large-scale corporate operations:

“Uber is putting AI to work across its business, and bringing ChatGPT Work to tens of thousand employees is a big step toward expanding access to frontier AI capabilities and tools. Now teams across Uber can tap into our portfolio of frontier models and agents to take on more complex work, connect the tools they use every day, and get more done.”

Strategic Outlook

This expanded deployment marks a pivotal phase in Uber’s ongoing artificial intelligence strategy and broader corporate partnership with OpenAI. Both organizations plan to publish ongoing insights regarding adoption metrics, primary enterprise use cases, and quantifiable performance outcomes as the global rollout progresses.
