LOT Allows Passengers to Use PEDs In Flight

LOT Polish Airlines is allowing passengers to use their personal electronic devices (PED) on board LOT’s aircraft in flight mode beginning Feb. 17, 2014.

Passengers may keep these devices switched on throughout the journey including take-offs and landings.

They may use all the functions on their phones, tablets, MP3 players or cameras, but without the use of the cellular signal (making calls or sending SMSes).

“We expect positive reactions from our passengers because it is a good decision and a huge facilitation which will increase the comfort of their flight,” said Barbara Pijanowska-Kuras, LOT Polish Airlines spokesperson.

The use of PEDs on board LOT’s aircraft was driven by a decision of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) which stated the use of electronics on board planes does not affect aircraft operations provided the flight mode (non-transmitting mode) is switched on.

LOT Polish Airlines has been connecting Poland with the rest of the world since 1929. Today, LOT’s fleet of 36 aircraft serves nearly 60 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North America and Asia.
