Software company SAP SE said Tuesday (September 24) it focuses on Berlin as an innovative location and therefore it will expand its presence in the capital.

In the next few years, the leading business applications provider worldwide will invest more than €200 million in a campus near Berlin central station. There will be room for up to 1,200 employees to work at the more than 30,000 square meters in “Quartier Heidestrasse,” the so-called Europacity. The move into the digital campus is currently planned for end of 2022.

With the new location SAP strengthens technology areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and blockchain. It also highlights the significance of the capital region as an important place for dialogue with customers, politicians, startups, and universities.

Today, SAP is represented in the capital area through multiple office locations in Berlin-Mitte and Schoenefeld, SAP Data Space and the SAP Innovation Center in Potsdam.

The Quartier Heidestrasse is a project of Taurecon Real Estate Consulting GmbH, which has signed a long-term lease agreement with SAP for the space. The building will be state-of-the-art in technological innovation, offering visitors and employees smart building technology.
