SAN JOSE, Calif. — Zoom Communications has officially launched AI Companion 3.0, introducing advanced “agentic” workflows designed to transform meeting conversations into immediate actions. This update marks a strategic pivot for the company, moving from a traditional video conferencing provider to a pioneer in AI-first intelligent work orchestration.

The latest evolution features several key enhancements:

  • New Conversational Web Surface: Users can now access AI Companion via a dedicated web browser (ai.zoom.us) to uncover insights, track progress, and create polished documents without manually uploading transcripts.
  • Agentic Capabilities: New tools include agentic retrieval, which searches for information across Zoom and third-party apps like Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive. Additionally, personal workflows (currently in beta) can automatically summarize chat threads and execute follow-up tasks.
  • Federated AI Approach: Zoom utilizes a unique stack that combines its own models with those from OpenAI, Anthropic, and NVIDIA to provide high-quality transcription and relevant task completion.
  • Expanded Accessibility: In an effort to democratize AI, Zoom is offering AI Companion as a $10/month standalone add-on for users without a paid Zoom Workplace license.

Regarding security, Zoom emphasized that it does not use customer content to train its own or third-party AI models, maintaining strict data encryption protocols to ensure user privacy.

Think of AI Companion 3.0 as a highly skilled digital Chief of Staff. Rather than just recording what happened in a meeting, it proactively organizes your filing cabinet, drafts your follow-up correspondence, and prepares your morning briefing so you can focus on making decisions rather than managing paperwork.
