BENGALURU — In a major expansion of its workforce development initiatives, Apple has launched its first-ever Education Hub in India, located in Bengaluru. This new facility, which operates in collaboration with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), is designed to provide advanced training and skill-building programs for workers across Apple’s vast Indian supply chain.

The hub is set to begin offering courses in March 2026, with a focus on creating a space where specialized educators can train supplier faculty. These trainers will then return to their respective facilities to deliver sessions to the broader workforce. Initial coursework will prioritize digital literacy and Swift coding for beginners.

Expanding Technical Training Across the Country: Beyond the Bengaluru hub, Apple is rolling out an expanded suite of development courses to more than 25 supplier sites throughout India. Starting with Tata Electronics, the new curriculum will help employees develop expertise in:

  • Robotics and Automation Technology
  • Smart Manufacturing
  • Swift Coding and Digital Literacy

These initiatives are supported by Apple’s global $50 million Supplier Employee Development Fund. Sarah Chandler, Apple’s vice president of Environment and Supply Chain Innovation, stated that the company is “thrilled to expand our technical training courses in India,” providing thousands of workers with opportunities for career growth.

A Commitment to Inclusivity and Rights: The program also emphasizes social responsibility and inclusivity. Apple is growing its Vocational Education for Persons with Disabilities program in India this year through a partnership with Salcomp and the local nonprofit Enable India. This global program has already reached more than 18,000 supplier employees, aiming to improve safety, accessibility, and inclusivity at manufacturing facilities.

Furthermore, the company continues to provide rights awareness training and health education to ensure all workers are treated with dignity and respect.

Building on Local Success: This expansion follows the success of a robotics training program launched in India in December 2024. Currently, Apple and its partners offer more than 75 courses for supplier employees in the region.

Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M.D. Venkatesh, vice chancellor at MAHE, highlighted the importance of this collaboration, noting that “supplier communities sit at the heart of India’s manufacturing ecosystem, and investing in their skills is more important than ever“.
