SAN FRANCISCO – On April 17, 2026, Anthropic Labs announced the launch of Claude Design, a new product that allows users to collaborate with AI to create professional-grade visual work, including designs, prototypes, slides, and marketing collateral. Powered by Anthropic’s most advanced vision model to date, Claude Opus 4.7, the tool is now available in research preview for Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers.
Bridging the Gap Between Idea and Design
Claude Design is built to assist both seasoned designers and those without a design background, such as founders and product managers. The tool functions through a natural creative flow: users describe their vision, and Claude builds an initial version. From there, users can refine the work through conversation, inline comments, direct edits, or custom sliders created by the AI to tweak layout, color, and spacing.
To ensure brand consistency, Claude Design can onboard a team’s specific design system by analyzing their existing codebase and design files. Once integrated, every project automatically utilizes the organization’s specific typography, colors, and components.

Seamless Integration and Handoff
Beyond simple mockups, the platform allows for the creation of realistic, interactive prototypes that can be user-tested without the need for code reviews. Anthropic Labs says this capability has already seen significant results in early testing.
The tool also facilitates a smooth transition from design to development. Users can package finalized designs into a handoff bundle for Claude Code, allowing for a single-instruction jump from prototype to production. Additionally, a partnership with Canva enables users to export their Claude Design drafts directly into Canva for further editing and publishing.
Speeding Up the Creative Process
According to Anthropic Labs, industry leaders report that Claude Design is significantly accelerating project timelines.
Key features of the platform include:
- Multi-format Import: Start projects from text prompts, uploaded images, documents (DOCX, PPTX, XLSX), or web captures.
- Robust Export Options: Save work as internal URLs, folders, standalone HTML, PDFs, or export directly to Canva and PowerPoint.
- Organizational Collaboration: Features include private or organization-wide sharing and group conversations with Claude.
Availability
Claude Design is currently rolling out to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise users. For Enterprise organizations, the feature is off by default and must be enabled by administrators in organization settings. Users can begin using the tool immediately at claude.ai/design.
