LAS VEGAS — At the CES 2026 “Deep Dive” session, Samsung Electronics unveiled a transformative vision for its Digital Appliances (DA) business, signaling a shift from traditional devices to intelligent “Home Companions”. As the global appliance market navigates the rapid integration of artificial intelligence, Samsung is positioning its Bespoke AI lineup as a proactive partner in daily life.

A Proactive AI Ecosystem

Led by Cheolgi Kim, Head of the DA Business, the company detailed how appliances are moving beyond their basic functions. Equipped with Bixby voice recognition, integrated screens, and cameras, these devices can now “see, hear, and understand” to anticipate user needs. This “Home Companion” concept is not limited to kitchen or laundry appliances; it extends to TVs and mobile devices, creating a unified ecosystem where technology adapts to the human experience rather than the other way around.

“Samsung’s ultimate goal is to enable a better living through Bespoke AI,” stated Cheolgi Kim, highlighting the company’s focus on providing differentiated experiences and added value through its extensive product network.

Tailoring Innovation to Global Markets

Samsung’s 2026 strategy relies heavily on regional customization to drive global growth. JS Moon, Head of R&D at the DA Business, outlined specific focuses for various markets:

  • North America: Growth is driven by innovative form factors like the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo and new kitchen packages featuring unified stainless-steel designs.
  • Europe: Sustainability remains the primary focus. Samsung introduced a Bespoke AI washer that is 65% more energy efficient than the minimum requirements for a European Class A rating.
  • Asia and Latin America: Asia is seeing increased demand for localized AI features and regional language support, while Latin America shows strong momentum in laundry and air conditioning solutions.

Expanding the Horizon of Connected Living

Looking toward the future, Samsung intends to expand its AI capabilities into non-traditional sectors, including HVAC solutions, modular homes, and insurance-based care. By focusing on open collaboration and long-term software support, the company aims to reduce household burdens and provide practical, trusted AI experiences that align with how people actually live.

The company also plans to democratize these technologies by expanding core features, such as AI Energy Mode, across a wider range of price points and product types beyond its premium lineups.

To understand this shift, think of the difference between a toolbox and a personal assistant. While a traditional appliance is a tool you must pick up and operate, a “Home Companion” acts like an assistant who knows your schedule, manages your energy use, and prepares the environment for you before you even walk through the door.
