SEOUL, Korea – Samsung Electronics has announced a major evolution for its smart home ecosystem, revealing that its upcoming kitchen appliance lineup at CES 2026 will be powered by Google Gemini. This collaboration with Google Cloud aims to significantly enhance vision-based AI functionality, making everyday kitchen tasks more intuitive and personalized.
Google Gemini Comes to the Refrigerator
The centerpiece of this announcement is the new Bespoke AI Refrigerator Family Hub, which marks the first time Google Gemini has been integrated into a refrigerator. This integration powers an upgraded AI Vision feature designed to overcome previous hardware limitations.
While earlier models were restricted to recognizing 37 types of fresh food and 50 types of pre-registered processed items, the Gemini-enhanced system offers a more flexible experience. Key improvements include:
- Automatic Recognition: The system can now identify processed foods without the need for manual registration.
- Custom Labeling: Users can label personal containers, and the AI will accurately add those items to the digital food list.
- Enhanced Accuracy: Higher precision in identifying ingredients leads to a clearer, more manageable food inventory.
Expanding the AI Ecosystem: Wine and Beyond
The partnership with Google extends to the new Bespoke AI Wine Cellar, which utilizes Gemini-built AI Vision to manage collections. A specialized camera tracks labels as bottles are added or removed, automatically updating the SmartThings AI Wine Manager. Beyond inventory tracking, the system can distinguish specific shelf locations and provide personalized wine pairing suggestions based on the user’s current stock.

Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President at Samsung Electronics, noted that this collaboration with Google Cloud represents a “new level of innovation” for the company as it seeks to deliver superior consumer experiences in the coming year.
A Unified, Modern Kitchen
In addition to the Gemini-powered features, Samsung will showcase a refreshed lineup of French Door refrigerators, slide-in ranges, and Over-the-Range (OTR) microwaves. These appliances feature a cohesive “stainless-look” aesthetic and space-saving designs, such as a zero-clearance fit for refrigerators that requires only 4mm of side gap for installation.
Visitors to CES 2026 will be able to experience these innovations firsthand at the Samsung booth, where the company plans to demonstrate the future of a truly personalized AI kitchen.
Think of the previous AI Vision as a basic digital dictionary that only knew a few specific words; with the integration of Google Gemini, the refrigerator has essentially been given a comprehensive library and the ability to learn new words on its own, allowing it to understand almost anything you place inside it without you having to teach it first.
