MUNICH — In a major move to address rising skepticism over digital infrastructure, 15 leading technology firms from across the globe announced the launch of the Trusted Tech Alliance (TTA) on Friday at the Munich Security Conference.
The coalition, which includes industry heavyweights such as Microsoft, Google Cloud, AWS, Anthropic, and Nokia, represents a diverse group of providers spanning Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America. The group’s primary objective is to collaborate across borders to establish a “trusted technology stack”—a framework covering everything from semiconductors and cloud infrastructure to software and artificial intelligence.
Addressing Global Skepticism
The TTA was formed in response to an “unprecedented pace of technological change” and an increasingly complex global environment. Member companies noted that as digital technologies become more pervasive, there is a growing need for reliability and resilience, as well as a need to counter public skepticism regarding the potential negative impacts of technology on society.
By defining clear attributes for trusted technology, the Alliance members are committing to work alongside governments and customers to ensure that emerging technologies drive economic growth and job creation while fostering broader public trust.
The Five Core Principles
Participating companies have agreed to adhere to five specific principles designed to ensure transparency and security, regardless of where the technology is built or deployed:
- Transparent Corporate Governance and Ethical Conduct: Maintaining high standards of integrity.
- Operational Transparency and Independent Assessment: Ensuring secure development practices that can be verified.
- Robust Supply Chain and Security Oversight: Using contractually binding assurances to hold suppliers to global security standards.
- Open, Cooperative, Inclusive, and Resilient Digital Ecosystem: Supporting environments that encourage innovation.
- Respect for the Rule of Law and Data Protection: Prioritizing legal compliance and the privacy of users.
Looking Forward
The Alliance aims to create a verifiable set of practices that build trust and pass the benefits of technology to people worldwide. As the TTA continues to grow, it intends to shape shared approaches that support international efforts to strengthen national sovereignty and competitiveness.
The current signatories include Anthropic, AWS, Cassava Technologies, Cohere, Ericsson, Google Cloud, Hanwha, Jio Platforms, Microsoft, Nokia, Nscale, NTT, Rapidus, Saab, and SAP. More information regarding the alliance’s initiatives can be found on their official website.
